Can a state sustain an expansionist, imperial agenda in an emerging multipolar global landscape while operating within the capitalist world economy? The rise of China, India, Iran, Russia, and Turkey in the current geopolitical arena has accompanied efforts to revive their imperial legacies through imperialistic strategies. These ascending powers confront opposition from states committed to sovereignty and national identity as well as internal challenges, including economic constraints often exacerbated by international sanctions and political dissent.
